G. Bandwidth Utilization

VPS products are supplied with a 150 Mbps speed data connection, and have no limit on the number of Gigabytes which may be transferred in a given month. It is therefore necessary to enforce an Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) on bandwidth usage to prevent a VPS user from adversely affecting the performance of the service for all other VPS users. The Bandwidth AUP is measured using the common 95th percentile bandwidth measurement method. The AUP is designed to allow normal server use for the given product without penalty or restriction. If a VPS’s bandwidth usage is abnormally high, and therefore exceeds the AUP, we will contact you in the first instance and ask you to reduce your usage or upgrade the service. If subsequently your usage does not fall within the acceptable use level, we will contact you again to arrange either an upgrade of the service or you may terminate the service.

Product Maximum usage.

  • VPS Basic – 2Mbps at 95th percentile measurement.
  • VPS Personal – 5Mbps at 95th percentile measurement.
  • VPS Standard – 7Mbps at 95th percentile measurement.
  • VPS Business – 10Mbps at 95th percentile measurement.
  • VPS Enterprise – 15Mbps at 95th percentile measurement.

The 95th percentile allows a customer to have a short bursts in traffic without overage charges. The 95th percentile says that 95% of the time, the usage is at or below this amount. Conversely, 5% of the samples may be bursting above this rate.

A full description of 95th percentile bandwidth measurement may be found at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burstable#95th_percentile
